A Poets Walk is a dream come true in memory care facilities. We just moved our mom there from a lovely assisted living facility. We all realized mom was needing more care but after 7 years at the other place it was not something we were looking forward to but the staff are amazing and after 48 hours of nervous hovering my siblings and I kissed mom good night and left her knowing that she really is in good hands! The facility is immaculately clean, invitingly arranged with many different, inviting areas to sit and interact along "Main Street" as well as a cleverly designed circuit with a secure inner court yard that allows for safe walks. Residents rooms are spacious and well laid out. And, the staff there are so good it is hard to believe that they are real! They are patient, kind, loving and remarkably talented at knowing how to manage whatever comes along. The manager, Mark, has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help get mom (and our family) settled and comfortable with the move, I feel that I should single out and name the other staff but each one of them has been remarkable- so instead, let me just say- hugs to each and every one of you- and from the bottom of our hearts- thank you- A Poets Walk and each of you are truly a God-send. If you are looking for a place for your loved one - I recommend it without hesitation!
Makayla,I cannot thank you, Wendy, and Corina enough. My mom was displaced from the Portland, Texas Brookdale facility due to the hurricane. My brother initially took her to Houston - but then informed me he was arriving in San Antonio with her yesterday. (With short notice and no place to go due to conditions in Houston)In less than 24 hours - she had a nice furnished room, a new TV, a new mattress, all paperwork done, and great employees coming into her room wanting to help in anyway possible. Not to mention the best LTC physician in San Antonio - Dr Laura Givens. I could go on and on. It was the most unbelievable customer service experience I have ever witnessed.I will be forever indebted to Poets Walk. It was a very dramatic time for me and my family, so I also want to personally apologize if we came across upset or demanding in any way. You will find we are very realistic and we never expect perfection. Thank you again. - Michael Hunt
Debbi, Chip, Tina, Lisa and Janet,Thank you so much for your care of mother since March 28th.  We were very pleased with her care and appreciate so much all the Team did in helping us during this time of almost constant change in mother.  The Poet's Walk Team continued to impress us with their care of mother and how they interacted with her and with us.Each of you was instrumental in our decision to choose Poet's Walk. Tina, you were our first contact with PW and you helped us navigate mother's transition to PW. Chip, thank you for our first meeting in March when we were planning mother's move to PW and for coordinating with others moving mother to room 202 in May.  Lisa, you were/are very compassionate and helpful in every way. You and the staff continued to make any adjustments needed in caring for mother.  Janet, thank you for our conversations, your helpfulness and for continuing to encourage mother to engage in activities though she participated only occasionally. We appreciate Noelle, Carol, Bridgette, Helen and numerous aides, Kristy (mother's first primary care aide), Sharmane (mother's primary care aide when mother moved to 202), Ariel, Deja, Latonya, Colette and others!  We felt the nurses were always on top of things and trusted them. Each Team member always had time for our questions or concerns.  Mother's needs seemed to change almost daily and the PW Team worked with mother and us to accommodate those needs with appropriate responses.Again, thank you so much,Sincerely,Jim
Right now, my mom is getting really good care in Poet's Walk. They are very attentive, when she needs anything they would call to let me know that she's running out on supplies. The attendants are really caring and keep an eye on her all the time. They would monitored her medication, they are patient with her, they work with her and they redirect her if she needs it because she has dementia and Alzheimer's. The staff are always on-hand and actively participating with the patients. I have never seen them just sitting around. The place is nice and clean, including the visitors' bathroom and my mom's room. Everything is well-kept. They have two patio-areas where the residents can come in and go as they please. They also have a third patio where they have to be escorted at the back. The dining and reception areas are always nice. The tables are always arranged in the common area and always kept clean. They usually serve soup, salad and a main course. And there's always something available in refrigerator where they can get a snack bar or a juice in-between meals. They play bingo all the time, there's music, and they do crafts, painting and flower-arrangements. They have puzzles and books on the shelves for the residents to utilize. There's also a little play-station for them to use if they need. One of the main reasons that we selected Poet's Walk is because they have a dog that lives in the facility. My mom just lost her dog prior to moving and it helped and comforted her.  - Alicia
Dear Mr. Markowits,My father, Jim English, has been a resident at Poet's Walk, Round Rock, Texas for one year now. He is one of the founders of Poet's Walk, Round Rock, Texas. This has been such an outstanding fit for Dad to be at Poet's Walk. We are very pleased with his care there and wanted you to know. There are times when Dad seems so much like his former self and then there are times when the dementia replaces his memories and personality. We are so very thankful for the staff and facility at Poet's Walk, because we know Dad is being cared for lovingly and thoughtfully and that he is safe. Every member of the staff at Poet's Walk in Round Rock has shown us courtesy, kindness and professionalism. However you recruit staff, you are doing a great job of it. Amber as Director sets the tone for the others and she is diligent in responding to our questions and phone calls. She even has called us on her day off to make sure we know what happened with Dad during a dementia moment that can occur in a day or last over many days. Her attention to detail at Poet's Walk includes not only her staff that receive her attention (her care for Courtney during her illness is just one example), but also the facility itself AND of course the residents. My dad thinks Amber knows how to fix everything and we agree, she does! We are always happy to come to Poet's Walk to visit with Dad. We are greeted by those who work at the desk: Josephine and by those who work in the offices: Courtney, Phyllis, Amber and Tatiana when she is there. They always say hello and give us a smile and ask how we are doing. What a blessing to have that welcome. The activity director: David and his assistants: Janice and Gay Lynn are always welcoming as we enter the main part of Poet's Walk. They are so very professional and hard working having a variety of activities for the residents, My father does not always participate, but does participate more at Poet's Walk than he has at other places. What joy David, Janice and Gay Lynn share with the residents and their families....and they give great hugs, too! Dylan is such a help to us with Dad's concern for his room and laundry. He is another one who always greets us and gives us his warm and loving smile. Jocquel and the nursing staff take great care of Dad. When he felt like he had a cold, they quickly checked with the doctor and started giving him medicine to take care of it. Thankfully, they order and give him his medicine and we no longer have that concern to try to take care of for him. We so appreciate the aides who do so much to help the residents and have helped Dad find lost things. Doncheta, Krystal and others who I recognize, but do not have names for are all such kind and supportive members of the Poet's Walk family. We worked a lot with Rebecca, the social worker, and she introduced us to Kandy who is the new social worker and who seems to be a great addition to the staff.I so hope you can tell that how very pleased we are with Poet's Walk. We are so very thankful for Poet's Walk and all who do such caring and loving work there. Thank you for building a company that takes excellent care of those who cannot care for ...
I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident. Our family couldn't be more pleased with Poets Walk. Our mother has been in two different memory care facilities in Henderson and having her at Poets Walk now, we know she will get the loving care she needs. The staff is absolutely amazing and cares about the well being of their residents. The court yards, residents rooms, ice cream parlor, dining rooms, along with all the activities they offer are exceptional. You cannot go wrong placing your loved one here, truly a blessing to know that your family member will be taken care of.
I very highly recommend this place.  The care and attention mom gets is undeniable.  Not only health-wise, but caring for her as a person, along with having the in-house doctor is such a Blessing.
My mother is a new resident at the Gordon Sheldon Blvd / Fredericksburg location – wonderful experience for mom so far; hats off to the staff – I love Ms. Sandy at concierges; Ms. Janet our Ambassador – go above and beyond. The care providers that tend to my mother; the nurses and Ms. Michelle in the dining room. Excellent staff my friends; these folks (all of them) are what makes this place.
I recently moved Dad to Poet’s Walk. In my opinion, the memory care facility where he was living is going downhill due to bad management and he was not getting good care. He was declining to the point of not being able to speak in completed sentences and stayed confused. I know this is part of this terrible illness but like I said, he was not getting good care. My advice…stay cautious of “good deals”. The staff at Poet’s Walk is remarkable. The change in my father's behavior is amazing for such a short time that he has been there. The activity director keeps my father and the others engaged in constant conversation and activity. The food is homemade, fresh and delicious. The facility is clean and beautiful. There is an onsite nurse 24/7. There is a social worker on staff to make sure Dad is acclimated and also for my needs as a caregiver. The executive director believes in positive constructive management to bring the best performance from staff. The whole team has their sleeves rolled up with one purpose…my father’s best interest. I did not take moving my father to a new facility lightly and today I can say Poet’s Walk is the best decision I have made in a long time. This is a slow downhill road and I believe Poet’s Walk will be with my father and I to make this journey as enjoyable and peaceful as can be expected.
This brand-new memory care facility is cheery, open and beautifully furnished. The administration and staff are empathetic, caring, giving and considerate of both resident and family. My brother-in-law was placed in Poets Walk by my sister the 5th of December - the first day it was officially in operation. It was necessary to move him from another memory care facility because they were understaffed and unable to offer him either freedom of movement or a program that could keep him engaged in activities he enjoys. Poets Walk offers everything you could wish for to your loved one. Do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful home where everyone treats you and your loved one like family before you decide on any other placement. We live 39 miles away and the peace of mind we feel is well worth the drive. Truthfully we look forward to each and every visit. When one of the staff members told him how pleased they were to welcome him there, our Al responded, "I've always lived here."
