The builders behind Poet’s Walk Leesburg, L.F. Jennings, Inc, have won an Excellence in Construction Award from The Metro Washington and Virginia Chapters of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) at the 37th annual Excellence in Construction Awards on September 13th, 2018. The annual Excellence in Construction Awards recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects built by Washington-area ABC members. The awards competition serves to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognizing the workmanship of those who contribute and by showcasing the results of their dedication.
Poet’s Walk Leesburg is a single story, 38,000 SF building that accommodates 68 memory care residents. The community is designed and constructed to give occupants a high-end experience. Dining facilities, a bistro, community areas, an ice cream parlor, a salon and two enclosed courtyards all work to sustaining the community resort atmosphere, while discrete nurse call stations and building security provide support and safety for the residents.
“We have high Hills expectations for our Poet’s Walk communities,” said Alexander Markowits, President/CEO of Spring Hills Senior Communities. “L.F. Jennings did a wonderful job for us and we couldn’t be more excited for them.” Mark Ambach, President Silver Capital Development who works with Spring Hills Senior Communities, added, “L.F. Jennings, Inc. is very worthy of this honor. They were professional, thorough and meticulous throughout the entire process. We are lucky to have them as part of our team, along with LRS Architects, when we built Poet’s Walk Leesburg.”

This year’s panel included industry professionals from a cross-section of the building industry, including architects, owners, government officials, and other industry leaders around the Washington metro-area. Entries were judges on complexity, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, cost and safety.

Carl’s passion for business was a true inspiration to everyone he worked with, especially his son Larry, who joined his father in 1972.
